What is the difference between Record sale and Collect payment?

Record sale and Collect payment both create a Storefront order. The difference is when and how money is captured.

Record sale

Customer already paid. You log the order and the payment method (cash, transfer, POS, and so on), or link an existing Sloud wallet transfer. No new Sloud Checkout collection happens at the end.

Collect payment

Customer has not paid yet. You build the order, then take payment through Sloud when you finish. Online shop checkout and in-person collections that settle to your Business Wallet use this path via Sloud Checkout (Pay by Transfer).

Collection fees for Pay by Transfer are 1.1%, capped at ₦1,500. In Settings → Preferences → Transaction, choose whether fees are charged to you (Merchant) or your customers (Customer).
